Action Before Next Meeting

1.    Joint chapters. Don/Andrew reported that the joint chapter has been approved by IEEE HQ.

All: Develop suggestions for a joint chapter name, reflective of the newly joined chapters.
Jacob: Update PES website to add links to all four joined chapters.
Steve P: Develop a revised budget to reflect the new joined chapters.
Joel: Send out mailing to new joined chapters to see if they would like to subscribe to the IEEE PES Austin mailing list.

2.    Financial reports. Kevin/Steve P reported that 2011 financial reports have been updated. 

Steve P: Ongoing financial status update.

3.    Technical presentations. Andrew confirmed joint I&M meeting in February. Kevin confirmed presentation for March. Steve P confirmed Generac meeting for May. James confirmed presentation for August. James reported Klozinski Disaster Forensics will be moved to 2013.

Stacy: Confirm Webberville tour for April.
Andrew: Confirm Ehsani for June.
Steve P: Confirm Nesbitt for July.
Andrew: Confirm Baldick for September.
James: Confirm Stallcup class for October.
All: Suggestions for technical tour for November.



4.    Google Docs. Steve P established a Google Docs account for IEEE PES Austin. On trial basis, we are paralleling web calendar. For now, we are doing mailings through ieee.pes.austin@zxtech.net. Centralized storage use deferred for now.
All: Review results/feedback of parallel calendar in June.

5.    El Gallo Plaque. Since we did not complete in 2011, need to put in budget for 2012.
Steve P: Put in budget for 2012.
6.    Elections. Nominees for 2012 are Joel Sandahl for Secretary and Paul Brown for Members at Large. James conducted elections on Jan 24 with Joel Sandahl being elected Secretary and Paul Brown be elected Member at Large.

7.    Power Engineering Education. Joel: Lead discussions and collect improvement ideas on the differences between engineering education and the reality of the job market.
8.    Discounts Software for IEEE members. Contacted HQ. They are interested in this effort.

9.    Establish relationships with GOLD and WIE. All: Continuing.
10.    Establish a policy with respect to use of the IEEE PES Austin mailing list. On a trial basis, we will go to semi-monthly distribution of an IEEE PES Austin Newsletter for dissemination of information. The newsletter will be sent circa the 1st and 15th of each month. A draft will be circulated to ChapComm for comment prior to distribution. Joel: Provide a draft document at March meeting for initiating discussion on a policy for posting of information in the newsletter.
11.    Webmaster. Due to a busy schedule, Jacob would like step down as webmaster if we can find a new webmaster.
All: Nominations for possible new webmaster.


The next regular ChapComm meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, March 13 in TxDOT room 1A2.
Future meetings will be the second Tuesday at TxDot unless the chapter membership is notified otherwise.
