The effort mirrors the work already done by the Power Systems Analytical Data (PSAD) Working Group. However, the emphasis of the new Distribution System Analysis Data (DSAD) Working Group will focus on data commonly used to describe distribution systems rather than bulk power transmission systems.
The PSAD WG has taken a two-pronged approach to the problem.
1. Development of a data dictionary to define the standard terms.
2. Development of a self-defining ASCII text file format for the transfer of data using the standard terms.
The DSAD WG will also define a data dictionary and utilize the self-defining formats far as possible, We will also investigate the use of XML and COM/CORBA interfaces to accomplish the data transfer. The latter effort involves liaison with the Software Engineering WG.
