Abstract:
The Power System Relaying Committee (PSRC) is one of 14 technical committees of the Power and Energy Society (PES) of the IEEE. Mr. Goodrich provided an overview of the PSRC, from an organizational perspective and also regarding its specific work with standards, guides, and recommended practices. His talk also served as a very good general introduction to IEEE Standards Committee, subcommittee, working group, and task force efforts. He discussed the benefits of participation in this kind of work both from a personal and from a company perspective, and gave tips on how people could begin getting involved. The Transformer Committee is made up of 13 Sub Committees responsible for upkeep and development of more than 90 Standards and Guides pertaining to transformers. Mr. Knuth detailed the scope of the Transformer Committee's work, described the different ways that participants can contribute, covered the benefits of IEEE committee work to personnel and their employees, and gave a rundown of the specific subcommittees and their key projects.
