Summary:
Mr. Heiman provided a brief overview of what Power System Blackouts are, how they occur, and their impact to society. He discussed fundamental steps during Bulk Electric System restoration and some of the concerns/issues impacting the restoration efforts. 29 persons attended the luncheon. Biography:
Peter Heiman has over 26 years of experience in the power industry. He was an electrician in the US Naval Nuclear program from 1982 to 1991 operating and maintaining various electrical systems for submarine and air craft carriers. He then worked in operations at DOE’s Fast Flux Test Facility at the Hanford Nuclear Reservation from 1991 to 2000. Recently he has operated the transmission and sub-transmission power systems for various US governmental agencies as a Power System Dispatcher. Peter is currently the Dispatch Trainer for the Desert Southwest Region of WAPA.
