Dr. Imre Gyuk

 

Dr. Imre Gyuk is Program Manager of DOE’s Energy Storage Research Program in the Office of Electricity Distribution and Energy Reliability. The program funds work on a wide portfolio of technologies including advanced batteries, flywheels, super-capacitors, and CAES for applications such as frequency regulation, distribution upgrade deferral, better asset utilization, load leveling, and making renewables dispachable. The Storage Program maintains Joint Initiatives with the States of California and New York and works closely with Industry and Utilities. It also manages a $200 M Energy Storage Demonstration program under the Recovery Act. Dr. Gyuk received his BS. from Fordham, did graduate work at Brown and received a PhD. in Theoretical Physics from Purdue University. He has taught Physics, Engineering, and Architecture at Syracuse University, University of Wisconsin, and University of Kuwait.
