Q: Why are some downloadable files in .doc format and others in .pdf format?
A: MS Word (.doc) format allows users
to download the documents and modify
them without limitations. The Adobe Acrobat (.pdf)
format is read-only so the document cannot be modified by the users.
This makes
the pdf documents
immune from undesirable or
unauthorized changes and modifications. Adobe Acrobat reader software
can be
downloaded free of charge from the Adobe Web page. The preferred format is pdf.
Q: Where do I find the Minutes of the Previous Meetings of the Switchgear Committee?
A: Go back to the "PES Switchgear
Committee Home Page". Click on:
"Minutes of the Meetings (Archives)". Click on any of the dates of
the previous meetings.
Q: What should I do when my e-mail address changes?
A: Starting October 2007 we will be
introducing a new on-line system for registration, e-mail addresses,
and personal profiles for Switchgear Committee. The system is called Association
Management System. This system will NOT
be synchronized with the IEEE alias (@ieee.org) system so you should
separately manage your changes with the IEEE HQ and IEEE SA.
Q: What is the new IEEE Electronic Balloting and how do I use it to vote? Does this change the PAR process as well?
A: See the document: Procedures for IEEE
Electronic Balloting (click here) describing this new way of
balloting,
ballot monitoring, ballot pooling, PARs,
etc .
Q: What is the Switchgear Committee all about?
A: We are a medium size, specialized but
important group of professionals
that monitor the state of the art and trends of the switchgear
industry. We
develop standards (most of them are from C37 series) that help build better products and provide the users
and
manufacturers a forum for a common discussion on the future of the
industry.
