The 15th IEEE International Symposium on Safety, Security, and Rescue Robotics 2017 (SSRR 2017) is inviting cutting-edge papers in the theory and practice of robotics and automation for all types of safety, security, and rescue applications such as disaster response, mitigation and recovery; rapid and secure inspection of critical infrastructure; detection of chemical, biological and radiological risks, and operations in these dangerous sites.

Shanghai is the most populous “city proper” in the world and of global importance, also with respect to science and research. The very international metropolis is connected though its airports to over 194 destinations. China is the biggest and fastest growing robotics market worldwide and Shanghai is aiming to become a global center for robotics development and manufacturing.

The conference is organized with the help of the ShanghaiTech Automation and Robotics Center (STAR Center) and is hosted by the School of Information Science and Technology (SIST) of ShanghaiTech University. The Research University was founded in 2013 and is aiming to be a leading Institution in China and the world by creating a unique open and free academic environment which will serve as the cradle that trains future scientists, engineers, entrepreneurs, and industrial leaders in information sciences and technologies to play key roles in the ongoing economic transformation of China and the world. The conference will be held in the brand-new campus in the Zhangjiang High-Tech Park of Pudong, Shanghai.
