Technical Tours

IEEE CASE 2014 will offer three technical tours which consist of industrial companies and academic institution. The technical tours are free of charge on the first-come-first-serve basis. The attendees need to login for register or sign up at conference registration desk from August 18 to PM 1:30, August 20, 2014.

Technical Tour I

NTU International Center of Excellence on Intelligent Robotics and Automation Research (NTU-iCeiRA), National Taiwan University

AM 10:00-12:00 August 21, 2014 (Bus will depart from the conference site at AM 9:20)

(NOTE: If the sign up number less than 10 people, the tour will be cancelled. The announcement will be at registration desk before PM 3:00 on August 20, 2014)

The Center is sponsored by the Ministry of Science and Technology(MOST I-RiCE Program). National Taiwan University cooperates with three world-class institutes and universities: CNRS: French National Center for Scientific Research, INRIA: The French National Institute for Research in Computer Science and Control, and UPMC: Université Paris VI or Université Pierre et Marie Curie to constitute the international research center.

The main theme of the research in iCeiRA is centring on Cognitive Systems and Robotics. It is divided into three major areas of research and development, namely intelligent robot integrated automation system, medical and health care robotics, and service robotics. Research and development results in these areas will be presented and demonstrated during the tour.

AU Optronics Corp. (AUO), one of the world's leading providers of optoelectronic solutions.

AUO was formed in September 2001 by the merger of Acer Display Technology, Inc. (the former of AUO, established in 1996) and Unipac Optoelectronics Corporation. In October 2006, AUO acquired Quanta Display Inc. AUO has thus been operating production lines of various generations, capable of offering TFT-LCD panels from small to large sizes. AUO was also the first pure TFT-LCD manufacturer to have been successfully listed at the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE). AUO extended its market to the green energy industry in 2008 to provide customers with high efficiency solar solutions.

AUO generated NT$416.3 billion in sales revenue in 2013 (US$13.96 billion) and now houses a staff of more than 45,000 throughout its global operations spreading across Taiwan, Mainland China, Japan, Singapore, South Korea, the United States, and Europe.

By means of innovative technologies, AUO offers advanced display total solutions covering UHD 4K, ultra slim, narrow bezel, transparent displays, LTPS, OLED, and touch solutions. Fabrication plants from Gen 3.5, Gen 4, Gen 4.5, Gen 5, Gen 6, Gen 7.5 to Gen 8.5 have been established to develop a full lineup of applications, offering TFT-LCD panels in sizes ranging from 1.5 inches to 65 inches. Many robots and robots integrated flat panel display handling automation system have been implemented in the factory floor.
