The Solid-State Circuits Society with over 10,000 members around the world focuses on realized integrated circuit designs for all applications, using appropriate materials and interconnections. So that more time can be spent on reporting and discussing fabricated designs, less time is spent on simulated and analyzed circuits. The Society produces the most downloaded technical journal in IEEE Xplore, the Journal of Solid-State Circuits (JSSC) and sponsors the premier circuits realization conference the International Solid-State Circuits Conference. (ISSCC)
The roots of the Society start with the launch of the ISSCC in 1955. The Journal started in 1966 to provide an archive of major presentations from conferences, expanded to journal length papers. Soon afterward the leadership organized itself as a Council of all IEEE Societies contributing to the field of integrated circuits. As the field grew in the 1980s, two more conferences with a solid-state circuits focus were launched , the Symposia of VLSI, a sister symposia with the Electron Devices Society, and the Custom Integrated Circuits Conference. An important relationship began with the European Solid-State Device Electronics Conference and the European Solid-State Circuits Conference. In 1997 the Council became a Society giving itmore control over its own work. In 2003, the Society launched the Asian Solid-Solid State Circuits Conference. In 2009 marked the launch of the Solid-State Circuits Magazine.
