  • Main Activity: Tl-HTS thin films; structure, properties and high frequency nanoscale devices, Sintering behaviour of MgB2, Microstructural and chemical analysis of MgB2 wires and tapes (Drs. Grovenor & Speller). Microwave properties of high Tc superconductors - focus on Tl related materials. Development of thin film processing techniques - laser micromachining, pre anneal patterning, selective epitaxy. Microstrip devices including filters (high Q DTV, Mobile telecomms and specialist), power combiners and mixers. Developments of ultrafast electronics applications including THz bandwidth sampling devices, UWB characterisation of waveguide structures. THz material properties (Dr. Stevens).
