James Zimmerman Prize Nominations
Deadline Extended from June 1st to June 4th, 2012
May 26, 2012 (A175). Several prize awards will be presented at the 2012 Biomag 18th, to be held in Paris, France, from August 26 through 30, 2012 (see A165, A168). Among these is the James Zimmermann Prize first awarded at the Biomag meeting in Dubrovnik, Croatia, in 2010. The prize is awarded for “Significant contribution to novel SQUID-based sensors, new generation of sensor developments, and their applications in the field of biomagnetism”. WE SOLICIT CONTRIBUTIONS TO UPCOMING ISSUES
Submissions are being solicited, subject to editorial review and approval. We invite members of the European superconductivity community (including Russia and countries of the former USRR) to submit online contributions in the following categories:
- Announcements
- Letters to the Editor
- News Highlights
- Regional News, History
- Science & Technology News
In addition, online issues of News Forum contain invited critical overviews of selected activity areas and of topics of interest. Rounds of invitations to prepare critical reviews were issued in spring and fall of 2007. Another round will follow in spring of 2008. Suggestions and proposals for critical reviews by potential authors can be submitted at any time.
When planning to write and submit the same article both to the News Forum and to a peer-reviewed regular journal, please consult the “Copyright of Journals” information. The Forum articles are not peer-reviewed and have the status of electronic preprints, as is the case of “Condensed Matter” (cond-mat) preprints in the arxiv.org electronic archive. Papers rejected by an Editor will be reviewed by one or two members of the Editorial Board. Editor’s selection (for possible pre-publication) of papers submitted also to any conference proceedings is irrevocable. Criteria of selection are presently listed in the Editorial Comment (E6) to Issue 3.
When submitting any material for online publication, the current Guidelines for Authors need to be followed. Submitted material and all Forum correspondence should be directed to:
superconductivityforum@ieee.org. Acknowledgements of receipt won’t be issued. The submitting author will be notified of acceptance, rejection or need for revision and discussion with the Editor(s), usually within 30 days. The Forum plans to publish four quarterly issues annually, but previews of all the material accepted by the Forum appear promptly after acceptance, with opportunity for online discussion and comment provided simultaneously.
We welcome suggestions for improvement of the News Forum. Our intent is to serve the superconductivity community worldwide in the best possible way. Suggestions and wishes of our authors and readers are thus essential for us.
The News Forum Team.
