Power Distribution Substation Tour—Duquesne Light Company

See the renovation of Duquesne Light Company’s Highland and Arsenal Substations with new HV GIS & MV Metal-Clad Switchgear and the addition of underground high pressure 138 KV & 345 KV fluid filled transmission lines.

 

 Power Generation & Electronics Tour—Westinghouse Nuclear & Compunetics

Learn about Westinghouse Nuclear’s AP-1000 Next Generation Nuclear Power Plant and experience a demonstration of the AP-1000’s Simulator.  Then learn how printed circuit boards are fabricated from copper, fiberglass, drilling, imaging, etc. at Compunetics.

 

Power Generation & Electronics Tour—Westinghouse Nuclear & Compunetix

Learn about Westinghouse Nuclear’s AP-1000 Next Generation Nuclear Power Plant and experience a demonstration of the AP-1000’s Simulator.  Then observe the hand and automated assembly of electronic assemblies—part placement, wave soldering, surface mounting, re-flow, cleaning, and testing at Compunetix.

 

Power Transformer and Insulation Materials Research Tour—Pennsylvania Transformer Technology, Inc. and Touchstone Research Laboratory, Ltd.

Observe the manufacture of large power distribution transformers at Pennsylvania Transformer.  Then, visit Touchstone Research Laboratory, Inc. to see how CFOAM can be used as electrodes in fuel cells, batteries, steel and aluminum melting, EMI shielding, as the ground in ships or other composite structures which are usually non-conductive, in lightning protection, and as heating elements in space heaters.
