Joint IEEE-CIGRE Expert Round Table on On-Line Condition Monitoring
Monday, May 16th, 3:15pm – 5:00pm
Summary: Summary-4web site- 1st IEEE-CIGRE Expert Round Table.pdf
In recent years there has been an increase in the availability of
condition monitoring devices and systems wither as stand-alone
equipment or integrated with protection and control devices and
systems. The use of such systems varies according to a lot of factors
including expected value, asset-, risk- and network management policies
and will vary from one utility to another.
What is the present experience, the value from on-line condition
monitoring and what are the opportunities and challenges for the near
future in the view of future smart grids?
This round table discussion will bring together experts from the IEEE
and CIGRE organizations, utilities, manufacturers and all interested to
share their experience and best practices and to look together to
future developments, opportunities and challenges.
The discussions are meant to bring together important opinions and have
a joint outlook into the “crystal ball.”
Presenters:
- A. Mackrell, Convenor on CIGRE Working Group B3-12, will present the
results of the working group in obtaining value from online condition
monitoring. The results of a world-wide expert survey will be presented
- N. Fantana, Secretary of CIGRE Working Group B3-12, will present the
questionnaire and new working group paradigms
- IEEE presenter TBD
Discussion:
Participants are encouraged to submit 1-2 slides to stimulate
discussion on topics of interest. Possible topics include the
following: obtaining value from on-line condition monitoring, new or
advanced technologies, requirements and constraints from the net or
society, and future smart grid development and condition monitoring.
Please send slides to Nicolaie.Fantana@de.abb.com preferably at least
one week before the event.
Moderation and result consolidation: Dr. N. L. Fantana, ABB, WG B3-12
The results of all received contributions and inputs will be summarized
on the sites of the IEEE and CIGRE committees.
