BIOGRAPHY of Marc PROVENCHER

Education : He has obtained a baccalaureate degree in Electrical Engineering in 1976 from " Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières ".

Work : Since 1977 he has been working as a System Engineer at the only one Nuclear Power Station of Hydro-Québec in Gentilly. His first job dealt with the Commissioning of Heat Transport system and Steam Generator in Instrumentation and Control field. In 1984, he transferred to the Process Computer department to acquire a better understanding of the computer control. In 1987 he transferred to the Training department and in 1993 he was asked to set up a project for " Integrated Reliability " of Nuclear equipment and system. Finally since 1996 he has transferred back to the Nuclear Process department as the head of this section.

IEEE implication : Since 1974 he has been a member of IEEE and has been involved in the local St.Maurice section as secretary, treasurer, vice-chair and chair in 1994. In 1996 as Vice-Chair of the Eastern Canada Council (ECC) he was asked to implement a translation project for the Council. His is presently the ECC Chair and the adhoc Translation Activities Chair of the " whole " Region-7. In 1998 he has been promoted Senior member of IEEE.
