Call for Papers for Special Issue in IEEE Computational Intelligence
Magazine (Impact Factor 3.647)
Prospective authors are invited to submit manuscripts within the scope of
the conference to a Special Issue on Computational Intelligence Techniques
in Bioinformatics and Bioengineering in the prestigious IEEE
Computational Intelligence Magazine. Note, the Special Issue is open to
anyone, i.e. having an accepted paper at CIBCB 2017 is not a requirement.
Papers accepted at CIBCB 2017 need to be extended significantly before being
submitted to the Special Issue.
The submission deadline for manuscripts is 15th November 2017.
Detailed information about the Special Issue can be found at https://tinyurl.com/IEEE-CIM-SI-CITBB2018.
Call for Papers
Papers for IEEE CIBCB 2017 should be submitted electronically through the
Conference website at www.cibcb2017.org, and will be refereed by experts in
the fields and ranked based on the criteria of originality, significance,
quality and clarity.
Two-page abstracts describing late-breaking developments within the scope
of the conference are solicited for presentation at the Poster Snapshot
Session and the Poster Session at CIBCB 2017. Abstracts will be published on
the conference website and will also be available on USB key (alongside the
paper proceedings) distributed to all attendees of the conference.
Late-breaking abstracts will be briefly examined for relevance and
minimum standards of acceptability, but will not be peer reviewed in detail.
Authors of accepted late-breaking abstracts will individually retain
copyright (and all other rights) to their late-breaking abstracts. Accepted
late breaking abstracts with no author registered by the deadline will not
appear on the conference website and the USB key.
Late-breaking abstracts should be of the same format as full papers (see
formatting details) and submitted using the same
link as full papers before the 20th of May.
Best Poster Competition
IEEE CIBCB 2017 enters all accepted posters into a Best Poster
Competition. All conference attendees will have the chance to vote in the
Competition on site. The best judged poster will win a prize and featured on
the IEEE CIBCB 2017 website. Inquiries regarding the Competition should be
addressed to the Competition Chair (pmendes@uchc.edu or cibcb2017@gmail.com).

Venue
IEEE CIBCB 2017 will take place at the hotel
INNSIDE Manchester. Part of the Spanish group Melia Hotels
International, this stunning new hotel opened in May 2015 and stands in the
heart of the vibrant First Street development, located in the centre of
Manchester. The hotel is within close proximity of Deansgate and Manchester
Central and its privileged location allows easy access to Manchester’s
transport links including, Deansgate and Oxford Road rail stations, and
Manchester Airport. INNSIDE Manchester offers a selection of flexible
spaces, all conveniently dominating the first floor, suitable for all types
of corporate and social events. Each of the spaces benefits from natural
daylight, complimentary Wi-Fi and built-in audio-visual equipment and they
can accommodate up to 220 people.
Manchester is an international destination with an infrastructure
comparable to any city in Europe, hence it has become a natural choice for
the organisers of international association conferences. The city has a
world-class airport and a strategic location in relation to Britain’s
motorway and rail network. In addition, the huge investment made in public
transport in recent years makes Manchester perfectly equipped to provide fast
and efficient transport for delegates attending the conference.
Air
Manchester Piccadilly is one of three main stations in Manchester and
offers direct services to other major UK cities. There are 60 direct trains a
day to London (every 20 minutes), with a journey time of just over two
hours.
With over 200 non-stop flight routes, Manchester Airport boasts one of the
most comprehensive international route networks of any UK airport.
The UK is very well connected to Europe which will be a particular benefit
to delegates and exhibiting partners. The Eurostar link serves London’s St
Pancras station with trains arriving throughout the day from France and
Belgium, and there are excellent connections to the UK national rail network
and to Manchester.
It offers direct flights from nearly every major European city including
Brussels, Paris, Frankfurt and Amsterdam, as well as a large number of
international destinations including Chicago, New York, Washington DC, Abu
Dhabi, Dubai, Beijing, Hong Kong and Singapore. Manchester Airport also
offers a large number of European routes with low-cost carriers which will
benefit student delegates who are travelling on a budget.
The airport is situated just 10 miles from Manchester and is connected by
a fast and frequent train service meaning that delegates from overseas can
reach the city centre very quickly.
Airport to city centre by train: 10 miles /15 minutes £4.50 (€6.21
/ $6.60)
Airport to city centre by taxi: 10 miles / 20-25 minutes £25.00
(€34.25 / $36.75)
Rail

Road
Travelling to Manchester by road is simple and efficient with half of
Britain’s motorway network passing through the region with approximate
journey times of 2 hours to Birmingham, 3½ hours to London and 4 hours to
Edinburgh by car, allowing easy access from across the UK.
Passports & Visas
Free circulation of academics in the UK is guaranteed and we predict that
many delegates attending will not require a visa to enter the UK for this
conference. Delegates from outside the European Union usually need to apply
for a visa to enter the UK, although this is a straightforward process. The
local partners are happy to provide assistance in obtaining visas for those
cases where a written letter of invitation is required.
For invitation letter from CIBCB 2017 for your visa application, please
send an e-mail to the Finance Chair, Yu-Wang Chen (yu-wang.chen@manchester.ac.uk)

attending an international conference in Manchester simple. Delegates will
have a choice of a full range of accommodation, including internationally
recognised brands, all within walking distance of the Congress venue.
Getting around Manchester
Our suggested venue is located at the heart of Manchester’s city centre,
surrounded by thousands of hotel bedrooms as well as the city’s attractions,
bars and shops. This gives delegates extra time to enjoy the conference
programme and network with colleagues.

The Metrolink tram network is the largest urban tram network in the UK,
consisting of multiple lines bringing passengers into the heart of Manchester
city centre. This gives delegates the opportunity to easily visit further
afield should they wish.
Car & Taxi
The city centre offers over 15,000 secure car parking spaces and is well
served by a large number of taxi operators.
Bus
An extensive bus network is operated by various commercial operators. It
offers high levels of connectivity and value for money for passengers with
services operating into the night.
