Biography: Andrea Armani is currently the Ray Irani Professor of Chemical Engineering and Materials Science at the University of Southern California. She has previously held administrative positions including being the Vice Dean of New Initiatives and the Director of the USC Core Nanofabrication facility. Her research focuses on the development of new optical materials for integrated photonics with applications in quantum communications and healthcare. She received her BA in physics from the University of Chicago and her PhD in applied physics from the California Institute of Technology. She is the Feature Editor of Optics Letters, Associate Editor of ACS Photonics, and a Fellow of Optica, SPIE, AAAS, and NAI.
