Additive Manufacturing for Flexible Micro-and Nanoelectronics

Ji Tae Kim (The University of Hong Kong)

Biography: Prof. Ji Tae Kim is an Assistant Professor of the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Hong Kong (HKU). Born and raised in South Korea, he received his B.S. and Ph.D. degrees from Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH) in 2006 and 2011. He conducted postdoctoral research at Max Planck Institute for the Science of Light (Prof. Vahid Sandoghdar) and at Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems (Prof. Peer Fischer). Since 2016, he has started his independent research group at HKU.

Kim has developed new-paradigm 3D printing methods for nanoscale manufacturing of electronic and photonic integrated circuitries. His work aims to address the grand challenges of 3D printing to become a disruptive manufacturing technology. He has published 42 peer-reviewed papers in high-profile, cross-disciplinary journals such as Nature Communications, Advanced Materials, ACS Nano, Nano Letters, ACS Central Science, Advanced Science, Small, and so on, and 7 patents (granted: 3, filed: 4). Since 2016, he has awarded highly competitive external research grants in Hong Kong including 1 RGC ECS, 4 RGC GRF, and 1 ECF grants, as the capacity of PI.
