Introduction to Quantum Computing

Sophy Shin (IBM Quantum)

Biography: Ms. Sophy Shin is currently working at IBM Quantum as a Korea Lead for the Quantum computer/Qiskit developer community since 2022. Her main mission is to build and foster Korea’s Quantum community and ecosystem and to advise and support researchers and educators. She received the B.S. in Electrical Engineering in 2003 and the M.S. in Physics in 2006 all from Seoul National University. She is a Ph.D. candidate in Physics at Seoul National University since 2014. Her research interest lies on the non-equilibrium and non-linear dynamics of a cold atomic system, and she has been involved in various computational physics research projects. She studied complex network analysis and phase transition of the epidemic system at Korea Institute of Science and Technology until 2015 and quantum information theory at Korea Institute of Advanced Study until 2020. Before joining IBM Quantum, she worked on quantum chemistry at Cambridge Quantum Computing as a researcher.
