Prof. Henning Schulzrinne is Julian Clarence Levi Professor of Computer Science at Columbia University. He received his undergraduate degree in economics and electrical engineering from the Darmstadt University of Technology, Germany, his MSEE degree as a Fulbright scholar from the University of Cincinnati, Ohio and his Ph.D. from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, Massachusetts. He was a member of technical staff at AT&T Bell Laboratories, Murray Hill and an associate department head at GMD-Fokus (Berlin), before joining the Computer Science and Electrical Engineering departments at Columbia University, New York. From 2004 to 2009, he served as chair of the Department of Computer Science. From 2010 to 2011, he was an Engineering Fellow at the Federal Communications Commission (FCC); he is currently the CTO of the FCC.

He is editor of the "Computer Communications Journal", the "ACM Transactions on Multimedia Computing", the "ComSoc Surveys & Tutorials" and a former editor of the "IEEE Transactions on Image Processing", "Journal of Communications and Networks", "IEEE/ACM Transactions on Networking" and the "IEEE Internet Computing Magazine".

He has been a member of the Board of Governors of the IEEE Communications Society and is vice chair of ACM SIGCOMM, former chair of the IEEE Communications Society Technical Committees on Computer Communications and the Internet and has been technical program chair of Global Internet, IEEE Infocom 2000, ACM NOSSDAV, IEEE IM, IPTComm 2008, IFIP Networking 2009 and IPtel and general co-Chair of ACM Multimedia 2004 and ICNP 2009. He serves on the Internet2 Applications, Middleware and Services Advisory Council and have led a working in the NSF GENI project. He also has been a member of the IAB (Internet Architecture Board). He serves on a number of conference and journal steering committees, including for the IEEE/ACM Transactions on Networking.

He has published more than 250 journal and conference papers, and more than 70 Internet RFCs. Protocols co-developed by him are now Internet standards, used by almost all Internet telephony and multimedia applications. His research interests include Internet multimedia systems, quality of service, and performance evaluation.

He served as Chief Scientist for FirstHand Technologies and Chief Scientific Advisor for Ubiquity Software Corporation. He is a Fellow of the IEEE, has received the New York City Mayor's Award for Excellence in Science and Technology, the VON Pioneer Award, TCCC service award and the IEEE Region 1 William Terry Award for Lifetime Distinguished Service to IEEE.

Dr. Howald has over 30 years of technology and executive experience in commercial and military communications systems. He is Vice President of Network Architecture at Comcast, focused on the evolution of cable systems and services, future network architectures, and emerging broadband technologies. Prior to this, Dr. Howald held similar roles in the Cable industry with ARRIS and the former Motorola Mobility. Dr. Howald was also Vice President of Engineering at Xytrans, specializing in millimeter wave products for cellular backhaul, homeland security, and people screening from 2004-2008. He was also the Director of Systems Engineering at General Instrument and Motorola’s prior Broadband Communications Systems division beginning in the 1990s.

Dr. Howald has taught graduate courses in communications and wireless systems engineering, has published over 150 papers, and has multiple patents issued and pending. He has a BSEE and MSEE from Villanova University, a Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Systems Engineering from Drexel University, and a Master’s of Business Administration (MBA) from DeSales University.

Dr. Thyaga Nandagopal serves in the Directorate of Computer & Information Science and Engineering (CISE) of the National Science Foundation. He manages wireless networking and mobile computing research within the Networking Technologies and Systems (NeTS) program at NSF. He has been with the Foundation since February 2012.

Dr. Nandagopal received his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering in 2002 from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He was at Bell Labs from 2002 to 2012. His research interests have spanned several areas over these years: wireless ad hoc/mesh networks, RFID/sensor networks, internet routing architectures and protocols, cloud computing, and energy-efficient networks.

Narayan B. Mandayam is a Distinguished Professor and Chair of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Rutgers University, where he also serves as Associate Director of the Wireless Information Network Laboratory (WINLAB). Using constructs from game theory, communications and networking, his work has focused on system modeling, information processing as well as resource management for enabling cognitive wireless technologies to support various applications. His recent work has focused on the use of prospect theory in understanding the psychophysics of pricing for wireless data networks as well as the smart grid. His recent interests also include enabling privacy in IoT, building resilience in smart city infrastructures as well as modeling and analysis of trustworthy knowledge creation on the internet. Dr. Mandayam is a co-recipient of the 2015 IEEE Communications Society Advances in Communications Award for his work on power control and pricing, the 2014 IEEE Donald G. Fink Award for his IEEE Proceedings paper titled “Frontiers of Wireless and Mobile Communications” and the 2009 Fred W. Ellersick Prize from the IEEE Communications Society for his work on dynamic spectrum access models and spectrum policy. He is also a recipient of the Peter D. Cherasia Faculty Scholar Award from Rutgers University (2010), the National Science Foundation CAREER Award (1998) and the Institute Silver Medal from the Indian Institute of Technology (1989). He is a Fellow and Distinguished Lecturer of IEEE.

Jennifer Rexford (PhD/MSE UMichigan '96/'93, BSE Princeton '91) is the Gordon Y.S. Wu Professor of Engineering and the Chair of Computer Science at Princeton University. Before joining Princeton in 2005, she worked for eight years at AT&T Labs--Research. Jennifer is co-author of the book "Web Protocols and Practice" (Addison-Wesley, May 2001). She served as the chair of ACM SIGCOMM from 2003 to 2007, and a member of the Open Networking Foundation board of directors from 2014 to 2017. Jennifer received ACM's Grace Murray Hopper Award (2004) and Athena Lecturer Award (2016). She is an ACM Fellow (2008), and a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences (2013) and the National Academy of Engineering (2014).

Prof. Kravets is an Full Professor at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and the head of the Mobius group, which researches communication issues in all types of networks that are challenged by mobility, including IoT ecosystems, wireless LANs, sensor networks, vehicular networks, mobile social networks and personal area networks. Her research focuses on solutions that enable effective power management, connectivity management, data transport, congestion management, location management, routing and privacy. Her recent research on proximity networking and IoT has been funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF) and a Google Focused research Grant. She spent 2014 as a Visiting Scientist as part of the Google Visiting Faculty Program and she is a founding member of the Google Open Web of Things Expedition.

Raj Jain is a Life Fellow of IEEE, a Fellow of ACM, A Fellow of AAAS, a winner of ACM SIGCOMM Test of Time award, 2015 A. A. Michelson Award from Computer Measurement Group, CDAC-ACCS Foundation Award 2009, Distinguished Alumni award from Indian Institute of Science Alumni Association. Oliver Spatscheck received his Ph.D. from the University of Arizona in 1999 at which point he joined AT&T Labs. He was named AT&T fellow in 2013, holds over 100 patents, co-authored a book on Web Caching and Content Distribution and published over 75 articles. He was also the co-inventor of such systems as GS-Tool, IDNS and ARO which are used within and outside of AT&T. In his current role he is supporting AT&T’s open source ECOMP efforts.

Peter Mueller joined IBM Research as a Research Staff Member in 1988. His research expertise covers broad areas of distributed computing systems architecture, microwave technology, device physics, nano science and modeling. His current field of research is in the areas of data center storage security and quantum technology. Peter is a founding member and was the Chair of the IEEE ComSoc Communications and Information Systems Security Technical Committee (CIS-TC). In the course of his carrier he authored and co-authored more than 100 papers, 2 books, granted 25 patents and served as guest editor for many special issue publications. He also served as a government counsel and as organizer for numerous international conferences and workshops. His affiliations include active society membership in IEEE, where he is Senior Member; the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM); the Electrochemical Society (ECS); and the Swiss Physical Society (SPS).

Kandan is Lead System Architect for AT&T. Kandan leads technology efforts around NFV and AT&T’s Integrated Cloud Platform. He is currently responsible for shepherding SDN and NFV projects on to AT&T’s Integrated Cloud platform and big Open Source advocate. Previously, Kandan led the architecture work to support Cloud convergence, building external cloud and Content Delivery network (CDN) for AT&T

Mark Poletti is the Director of wireless technologies at CableLabs; a non-profit R&D organization that is dedicated to creating and driving technologies and innovations critical to the cable industry’s technology roadmap. In this role, Mark is responsible for wireless R&D activities across fixed, mobile and emerging wireless technologies. Prior to CableLabs, Mark has built, managed and operated 3G (CDMA) and 4G (WiMax) networks for US WEST and Clearwire, respectively. He has also been addressing mobile operator design, operations and performance issues of 2G, 3G, 4G, and satellite networks for over 20 years with such companies as ViaSat, Clearwire, ATECS/Centerline, U S WEST/Qwest, and General Electric. Mark holds a M.S in Telecommunications from University of Colorado and has multiple issued and pending patents.

An IBM Distinguished Engineer and CTO Open Technology for IBM, Christopher has been involved in the architecture, design, and engineering of distributed systems for most of his 37+ year career in IT and has been actively engaged in open standards and open source development since 1999. He has technical responsibility for all of IBM's strategic open source and standards initiatives, including OpenStack, Cloud Foundry, Hyperledger, the Open Container Initiative, Cloud Native Computing Foundation, Node.js and Docker. He represents IBM on the Hyperledger Governance Board, is a Maintainer of the Hyperledger Fabric project and chairs of the Hyperledger Technical Steering Committee.

Dr. Willinger is Chief Scientist at NIKSUN, Inc., the world leader in real-time monitoring and cyber forensics solutions. Before joining NIKSUN, he worked at AT&T Labs-Research in Florham Park, NJ from 1996 to 2013 and at Bellcore Applied Research from 1986 to 1996. Dr. Willinger received his Dipl. Math. from the ETH Zurich and his M.S. and Ph.D. in Operations Research and Industrial Engineering from Cornell University. He is a Fellow of ACM (2005), Fellow of IEEE (2005), AT&T Fellow (2007), and Fellow of SIAM (2009), co-recipient of the 1995 IEEE Communications Society W.R. Bennett Prize Paper Award and the 1996 IEEE W.R.G. Baker Prize Award, and co-recipient of the 2005 and 2016 ACM/SIGCOMM Test-of-Time Paper Awards. His paper "On the Self-Similar Nature of Ethernet Traffic" is featured in "The Best of the Best - Fifty Years of Communications and Networking Research," a 2007 IEEE Communications Society book compiling the most outstanding papers published in the communications and networking field in the last half century.

Urs Muller joined NVIDIA early 2015 to build and lead an autonomous driving team that creates novel deep-learning solutions for self-driving cars on NVIDIA's high-performance DRIVE PX platform.

In 2002 Urs Muller founded Net-Scale Technologies, Inc., with the goal of advancing new scientific results into industrial products. Net-Scale was prime contractor on several robotics, machine learning, and data security DARPA programs. In his role as a PI in these programs, Urs Muller has lead teams of scientists from New York University, the University of Montreal, and NEC Labs America in Princeton.

Before, Urs Muller worked as a scientist at Bell Labs, AT&T Labs, and ETH Zurich where he built award winning high-performance computers and delivered Internet applications for millions of users.

Urs Muller holds a Doctor of Technical Sciences degree (PhD) from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH).

Sundeep Rangan received the B.A.Sc. at the University of Waterloo, Canada and the M.Sc. and Ph.D. at the University of California, Berkeley, all in Electrical Engineering. He has held postdoctoral appointments at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor and Bell Labs.

In 2000, he co-founded (with four others) Flarion Technologies, a spin off of Bell Labs, that developed Flash OFDM, one of the first cellular OFDM data systems and pre-cursor to 4G systems including LTE and WiMAX. In 2006, Flarion was acquired by Qualcomm Technologies where Dr. Rangan was a Director of Engineering involved in OFDM infrastructure products. He joined the ECE department at NYU Tandon (formerly NYU Polytechnic) in 2010. He is a Fellow of the IEEE and Director of NYU WIRELESS, an academic-industry research center researching next-generation wireless systems. His research interests are in wireless communications, signal processing, information theory and control theory.

Melanie Swan is a Philosopher and Economic Theorist at the New School for Social Research in New York NY. She is the author of the best-selling book Blockchain: Blueprint for a New Economy (2015) that has been translated into five languages. She is the founder of several startups including the Institute for Blockchain Studies, DIYgenomics, GroupPurchase, and the MS Futures Group. Ms. Swan's educational background includes an MBA in Finance and Accounting from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, an MA in Contemporary Continental Philosophy from Kingston University London and Université Paris 8, and a BA in French and Economics from Georgetown University. She is a faculty member at Singularity University and the University of the Commons, an Affiliate Scholar at the Institute for Ethics and Emerging Technologies, and a contributor to the Edge's Annual Essay Question.

Michael Langdon is a Senior Director at Juniper Networks in the Contrail Business Unit where he supports field enablement and evangelism for cloud and network services virtualization. He spends most of his time interacting with users discussing architectures to drive seamless integration of network services as part an overall agile application and user services delivery workflow./p

Michael is now on his second tour with Juniper. Starting with Juniper in 2000, Michael was a Sales Engineer focusing on carrier customers. After almost 12 years at Juniper, he joined start up Contrail Systems to build & lead their Sales Engineering team. Juniper acquired Contrail in late 2012 and Michael has been Contrailing ever since. Michael previously worked as an ISP consultant to carrier networks and as operations and engineering manager for one of the original NSFNet backbones (JvNCNet).

Michael is a 1987 graduate of Villanova University and started his career as an officer in the US Navy onboard a Knox class frigate. Michael is based in the New York City area.

Harish Viswanathan is Head of Radio Systems Research Group in Nokia Bell Labs. From 2007 to 2015, Harish was in the Corp CTO organization, where as a CTO Partner he advised the Corporate CTO on Technology Strategy through in-depth analysis of emerging technology and market needs.He received the B. Tech. degree from the Department of Electrical Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology, Chennai, India and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from the School of Electrical Engineering, Cornell University, Ithaca, NY. Since joining Bell Labs in October 1997, he has worked on a wide range of wireless research topics from physical layer to network architecture and protocols such as multiple antenna technology for cellular wireless networks, multi-hop relays, network optimization, network architecture, and IoT communications. He has published extensively with over 100 publications. He is a Fellow of the IEEE and a Bell Labs Fellow.

David Snyder helps organizations develop and implement new technologies. His experience includes program management and product management at companies like Apple, PayPal, Yahoo!, Kaiser Permanente, First Data, and various startups for healthcare systems, electronic payments, mobile applications, and data security. His consulting business is 42TEK, Inc.

David is currently investigating methods for ensuring data quality and security for Internet of Things (IoT) devices, including remote patient monitoring and environmental sensors.

David has been the organizer, moderator, or speaker for more than 20 conferences and seminars on healthcare, data security, and payments topics, including the “Blockchain Symposium – It’s Not Just About Bitcoin And Finance: Opportunities for the Internet of Things, Healthcare, and More” in June 2016. In January 2017, he presented “What You Need to Know About Blockchain for the Internet of Things” at the Consultants Network of Silicon Valley (IEEE Chapter).

He studied Political Science and Philosophy at Grinnell College in Iowa, then transferred to Carnegie-Mellon University for a double major in Civil Engineering and Engineering and Public Policy and after graduating became a registered Civil Engineer (PE) in California. Thomas Motyka is Senior Executive Director of Infrastructure Innovation at the New Jersey Innovation Institute. He leads the Smart City iLab at the institute which is focused on applying technology & innovation in urban infrastructure and public services.He comes to this role with over 28 years of experience in the information technology industry most recently as the Global Director of Mobility Services at the IBM Corporation.His career included roles in engineering, development, product management and business development. He supported enterprise clients across multiple industries including: Communications (AT&T, Verizon), Utilities (HL&P, Keyspan) and Finance (Deutsche Bank, Bank of America).Thomas holds an M.B.A from Fairleigh Dickinson University and a B.S. in electrical engineering from New Jersey Institute of Technology.

Miguel A. Dajer is a veteran of the telecomm industry having spent the last 25 years working in different wireless technologies at Bell Laboratories, Lucent, Alcatel-Lucent and Huawei.

Mr. Dajer is currently the USAwireless R&D VP for Huawei Technologies. Mr. Dajer worked at Bell Laboratories, Lucent Technologies and Alcatel Lucent for the 25 years prior to joining Huawei Technologies in 2010. During his tenure at the wireless labs he occupied several key positions in Radio Access Network Hardware and Software product development and life cycle management, basestation platform development, systems engineering and architecture and technology introduction of wireless products.

Since joining Huawei, Mr. Dajer has worked towards establishing a strong wireless solutions presence in North America along with innovation and technology labs that supports Huawei’s MBB product solutions.His lab research focuses on 4G evolution to 5G, new 5G network architectures for the support of massive connectivity, high bandwidth and delay sensitive applications, fundamental technologies to enable these solutions, including SoC and antenna systems and the role of big data and machine learning on wireless transmission systems.

Dr. Saksena has been at the forefront of technology innovations in the wireless, Internet, cloud and data analytics industries. He has held senior leadership positions in a number of small and large companies. He began his career at AT&T in the early days of packet switching and made fundamental contributions that led to the commercialization of Frame Relay and Internet Protocol networks. He was named an “AT&T Fellow” in 1997 for his contributions to the growth of AT&T’s data networking business. Subsequently,Vikram was part of the founding team of two start-up companies in the broadband area, MaxComm Technologies and Narad Networks. Later on he became the CTO of two public companies, Sonus Networks and Tellabs, where he led the technology strategy and development of new products in voice over IP, mobile backhaul, mobile packet core, mobile video, and mobile security areas. He was the Massachusetts Technology Leadership Council’s “CTO of the Year” Finalist in 2008 for his contributions to Sonus’s wireless business.At NetScout, Vikram is responsible to NFV/SDN strategy and solution architecture.

At XCellAir, Narayan develops and evangelizes the technology strategy and roadmap, and leads the development of XCellAir’s cloud-based network management and optimization solutions for Wi-Fi and LTE. Prior to XCellAir, he drove research and development for InterDigital, developing next-generation wireless solutions – covering topics such as IoT, LTE small cells and Wi-Fi, spectrum management, and millimeter-wave technology. Narayan previously held leadership roles at Siemens Mobile Networks, Omnipoint Technologies and Hughes Network Systems in the development of TDMA, GSM/GPRS and 3G systems. Outside of work, Narayan follows a variety of sports and is an avid movie buff.

Kyle is Senior Deep Learning Data scientist at Intel Nervana, where he uses machine learning and deep learning methods to solve real-world analytical problems. He has a B.A. in Biological Psychology from Wheaton College, and a Ph.D. in Bioinformatics from Oregon Health & Science University, where his research focused on scalable machine learning-based methods for unstructured data curation and the application of artificial intelligence in the Neurosciences. At Intel Nervana, his team creates deep learning solution prototypes and researches optimization strategies for deep learning networks for text analytics, natural language processing, and image recognition.

Seong Hwan Kim is a Principal Datacenter Architect working for Xilinx’s Global Communication and Datacenter division. His key focus areas include Data Center application acceleration and offload for Compute, Network and Storage platforms, and NFV acceleration solutions by leveraging Xilinx’s all programmable FPGA technology. Prior to his current role, he served as a system architect at AMD, and developed network acceleration solutions utilizing GPU for x86 and ARM processors based platforms. Earlier he had served as technical product marketing manager, and principal/DMTS engineer during his tenure with Lucent Technologies, Agere, and LSI. His former roles were also deeply related to acceleration technology for network and security applications. He has more than 20 years of industry and research experience in the field of networking.

As a noted acceleration expert, he has numerous publications that include IEEE communication, Elsevier magazines, and several industry conferences. He has 5 US patents and 6 more pending patents in the compute, storage and networking fields. Seong Hwan Kim holds a Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from the State University of New York at Stony Brook and an M.B.A from Lehigh University.

Dr. Eugene Chai is a researcher in the Mobile Communications and Networking department of NEC Laboratories America, where his research interest broadly lies in the area of wireless mobile networks, cloud RANs, mobile computing and sensing with a focus on cellular networks and systems. At NEC Labs, he develops exciting solutions that expand wireless connectivity and computation in existing LTE and next generation 5G networks into scalable applications and solutions in the future IoT-connected society.

Dr. Chai received his M.S. and Ph.D. from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor and his B.S. from the National University of Singapore.

Nagi Mahalingam is a member of technical staff at InterDigital Labs where he conducts research on communications principles and their application towards next generation technologies. While his primary research interests are in cross layer optimisations involving MAC-PHY algorithms, he also has a fervent interest in low overhead, low latency, radio resource management as well as self organising techniques for mobile networks. His current focus is in radio access for air-borne and space-borne vehicles. He received his PhD in Electronics engineering from the University of Melbourne and has over 17 years of research & development experience with companies such as Nokia, Motorola, NEC and Airvana prior to InterDigital. He is the author of numerous patents, a prolific contributor to 3GPP and enjoys his mountain hikes with his family.

Dr. Allen Katz is a professor of Electrical/Computer Engineering at The College of New Jersey. He received his doctorate and baccalaureate degrees in electrical engineering from New Jersey Institute of Technology and a master’s in electrical engineering from Rutgers University. : Hans Raj Nahata is a Director of Technology Architecture at Verizon, responsible for providing technology strategy and architecture, and thought leadership in emerging technologies for wireline and wireless. Over two decades ago he began his career with NYNEX Science and Technology as a researcher in Speech Recognition. He enjoys teaching and has taught Math, CS and Operation Management courses at NJIT and other local colleges. Dr. Kalyani Bogineni is a Fellow at Verizon, responsible for defining forward-looking network architectures using new technologies like 5G, SDN, NFV, etc. Dr. Bogineni worked on network architecture and standardization for technologies including 4G/LTE, IP-optical integration, and Advanced Intelligent Networks. Dr. Bogineni has several patents and she is the co-author of numerous papers in IEEE/ACM journals, magazines, and conferences. She holds a Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Buffalo, a Master of Science in Computer Engineering from Dartmouth College, a Master of Engineering in Electrical Engineering from Indian Institute of Science and a Bachelor of Technology in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Sri Venkateswara University.

Dr. Benjamin B. Dingel received his doctor degree in Applied Physics from Osaka University, Japan in 1993. He joined NEC Central Research Laboratory as research engineer in 1993 working in optical lithography, and high power solid state laser. In 1996, he moved to Communication Research Laboratory (CRL), Japanese Ministry of Post and Telecommunication working on intelligent optical devices for optical networks, and microwave photonics. In 1999, he joined Corning Inc. as senior research scientist to continue his work on various areas of optical networks from optical equipment and subsystem, and components. In 2003, he co-founded Nasfine Photonics, Inc., and is presently its Director of R&D.

His research work covers photonics devices and systems/network, digital signal processing (DSP) for communication, and unified linearization platform for both analog and digital optical fiber communications. From a devices side, he pioneers an innovative design of linearized intensity modulator (IMPACC) for microwave photonics links (MPLs). He originated a common linearization platform for electric field coming from any Mach-Zehnder (MZ)-based devices that lead to the development of (a) minimalist-design linear frequency discriminators for analog MPLs, and (b) low-complexity QAM modulator for digital coherent optical multilevel communication. He also develops various multi-functional but simplified photonics integrated circuits (PICs)-based devices for optical sensing and measurement. From a system side, he works on various designs and issues related to optical equipment and subsystem, like reconfigurable wavelength selective cross-connect, reconfigurable optical add-drop, etc.

He is senior editor of SPIE’s Optical Engineering Journal since 2007, program chair of SPIE Photonics West’s Optical Communications track since 2008, conference chair/co-chair of SPIE’s Optical Transmission and Equipment for WDM Networking conference (2001-present), Broadband Access Communication Technologies (2006-to-present), Optical Metro Networks and Short-Haul Systems (2008-to present), and served as reviewer for NSF, IEEE, OSA and SPIE. He has 15 Patents (approved and pending) and more 65 journal and conference published papers.

Nicholas Madamopoulos received the B.S. degree in Physics (with honors) from the University of Patra, Greece, in 1993 and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Optical Science and Engineering from CREOL/College of Optics and Photonics, University of Central Florida, Orlando, in 1996 and 1998, respectively. His Ph.D. specialization was in photonic information processing systems, where he introduced novel photonic delay lines for phased array antenna applications, as well as photonic processing modules for fiber-optic communications.

His research interests include photonic information processing systems and subsystems for telecom and non-telecom applications. He has spent many years conducting research in academic and industrial institutions, as an Associate Professor at the Department of Electrical Engineering, City College of the City University of New York; Senior Research Scientist at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of California-Santa Barbara; Sr. Research Engineer for Calient Networks, Inc. (Santa Barbara, CA); Member of Technical Staff for Lucent-Bell Labs (Somerset, NJ); and Sr. Research Scientist for Corning, Inc. (Corning, NY and Somerset, NJ).

Dr. Madamopoulos is a Senior Member of IEEE. He was one of the founding members of the first IEEE-Photonics Society Student chapter (Orlando Chapter) and he served as treasurer and president for several years. He is a reviewer for IEEE and OSA publications and he has served in the program committee of a variety of conferences. He received a New Focus Student Essay Prize in 1996, the SPIE Educational Scholarship in Optical Engineering in 1997, the Graduate Merit Fellowship Award in 1998 and the New Focus/OSA Student Award in 1998.

Michael is a Director of Business Intelligence at Verizon focusing on business analytics related to capital optimization, spend strategy, competitive intelligence and leadership reporting.

Michael started his career as a consultant working for firms like EMC & Deloitte, where he led the development of Business Intelligence Strategies to help a variety of clients better understand and utilize data analytics tools and techniques. In 2010, his consulting engagements led him to Verizon where he supported a variety of efforts in Verizon Business and Verizon Digital Media Services. He joined Verizon officially in 2013 and has held roles with increasing responsibilities within our Technology organization. Michael has a Bachelor’s of Science in Computer Science Engineering, an MBA, and is a certified Greenbelt.

Anwar Walid is Head of the Mathematics of System Research Department and a Distinguished Member of the Research Staff at Bell Labs (Murray Hill, N.J.). He also served as Director of Research Partnership and University Collaborations, Bell Labs Chief Scientist Office. His research interests are in distributed systems, mathematical models, protocols and algorithms with applications to Internet of Things (IoT), digital health, smart transportations, cloud computing and software defined networking (SDN). He received a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Columbia University, New York. He has over 20 US and international granted patents on various aspects of networking and computing. He received best paper awards from ACM SIGMETRICS, IFIP Performance, IEEE LANMAN. He contributed to the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF), helped create the Internet Traffic Engineering working group, and co-authored permanent documents (RFCs). Dr. Walid is an associate editor of IEEE/ACM Transactions on Cloud Computing and the IEEE Network Magazine, and was associate editor of the IEEE/ACM Transactions on Networking (2009-2014). He served as Technical Program Chair of IEEE INFOCOM. He is an adjunct Professor at Columbia University Electrical Engineering department. Dr. Walid is a Fellow of the IEEE and an elected member of the International Federation for Information Processing (IFIP) Working Group 7.3 and Tau Beta Pi.

Mr. Scott N. Schober is the President and CEO of Berkeley Varitronics Systems (BVS), a 45 year-old New Jersey-based privately held company and leading provider of advanced, world-class wireless test and security solutions. MengChu Zhou received his B.S. degree in Control Engineering from Nanjing University of Science and Technology, Nanjing, China in 1983, M.S. degree in Automatic Control from Beijing Institute of Technology, Beijing, China in 1986, and Ph. D. degree in Computer and Systems Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy, NY in 1990. He joined New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT), Newark, NJ in 1990, and is now a Distinguished Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering. His research interests are in Petri nets, intelligent automation, Internet of Things, big data, and intelligent transportation. He has over 700 publications including 12 books, 390+ journal papers (over 280 in IEEE transactions), 11 patents, and 28 book-chapters. He is the founding Editor of IEEE Press Book Series on Systems Science and Engineering. He is founding Co-chair of Enterprise Information Systems Technical Committee and Environmental Sensing, Networking, and Decision-making Technical Committee of IEEE Systems, Man and Cybernetics Society. He has been among most highly cited scholars for years and ranked top one in the field of engineering worldwide in 2012 by Web of Science/Thomson Reuters. He is a recipient of Humboldt Research Award for US Senior Scientists from Humboldt Foundation, Franklin V.
