The fact that you're here means that you’ve taken some interest in the conference, so I wanted to take a few moments to very briefly highlight some new and innovating things we have going on at the WAMICON this year.

 

Location: Let's start with the most important thing…the beach. WAMICON will be hosted at the beautiful Marriott Sand Key in Clearwater Beach Florida.

 

Central Theme: "Wireless Devices and Systems Making Mad Connections from Space to the 5G IoE"

 

If you look at our call for papers, you will see that we are staying true to core focus of passive and active wireless devices and systems but we've added a Space component. Therefore, we've formulated a few subthemes:

 

a. Wireless Applications in Space. with Wireless referring to anything from a few KHz up to THz.

b. Wireless & Microwave Internet of Things (IoT).

c. Strengthening Connections & Building Collaborations. We're doing something unconventional, we have a subtheme centered around strengthening connections and building collaborations.

 

3rd Day for Collaboration Camp: This year WAMICON will be a 3-day conference instead of 2, as we've added an extra day for our WAMICON Collaboration Camp, which is an innovative approach to Strengthen Connections and Build Collaborations.

 

The goal of the Collaboration Camp is to incubate collaboration between government, academia, defense, and the private industry. Check out our website for more details about the Collaboration Camp but in general here is how we envision this to work:

 

a. Preconference Activities. Identify funding opportunities you would like to pursue.

b. Speed Networking. Network at the speed networking event with the goal of supporting or forming a Team.

c. Pitch Competition. Teams will pitch their concepts at the pitch event for feedback from program managers, hailing from some of the most prestigious R&D institutions & government agencies from all over the nation, e.g. NASA, DOD, Research Universities, etc.

 

Get Connected Early

Check Social Media Regularly for Updates and "Free Stuff." Leading up to the conference our social medial will be buzzing with highlights and giveaways from our sponsors and exhibitors. An example, WAMICON is very student friendly, so there very likely will a student registration giveaway. But you must stay engaged and active to win, as we will be doing various types of flash giveaways where the campaign may only be open from a few hours to a few days.

 

We are Expecting Double Attendance so Register Early

This year's WAMICON is going to be super exciting, as we are expecting at least double the number of attendees, so;

a. Exhibitors & Sponsors secure your spots early, especially to take part in our social media campaigns.

b. Presenters get your papers in on time.

c. Attendees register as early as possible and plan ahead for lodging at the conference hotel.
