Real World Engineering Project

Discovery-Based Projects for First Year EE, CE, CS, BE and EET Students


The IEEE is issuing a call for educatorsto develop hands-on, discovery-based projects for the benefit of first year students in Electrical Engineering (EE), Computer Engineering (CE), Computer Science (CS), Biomedical Engineering (BE) and Electrical Engineering Technology (EET).

This call for participation is a public invitation to submit project plans to be considered for full development.

Authors of completed projects will receive an award which includes:
  • A monetary award of US$10,000 USD;
  • An invitation to present the project at an IEEE-sponsored workshop;
  • A plaque and congratulatory letter.
Initial abstracts are due by 31 March 2009. Complete details regarding the call for proposals are available at: https://www.realworldengineering.org.



Call for 2009 IEEE Educational Activities Board (EAB) Award Nominations
The IEEE Educational Activities Board (EAB) is once again seeking nominations to recognize and honor individuals, companies and IEEE Sections for their contributions to engineering and technical education. The deadline for the 2009 nominations is 30 April 2009.

There are eight (8) awards open for nominations:
  • IEEE EAB Meritorious Achievement Award in Accreditation Activities;
  • IEEE EAB Meritorious Achievement Award in Continuing Education;
  • IEEE EAB Meritorious Achievement Award in Informal Education;
  • IEEE EAB Major Educational Innovation Award;
  • IEEE EAB Pre-University Educator Award;
  • IEEE EAB Meritorious Service Citation;
  • IEEE EAB Employer Professional Development Award;
  • Society/Council Professional Development Award.
