Members!
Last month the initial invitation for the rafting went out and we have received
an excellent turnout so far with members from the following sections:
Massachusetts
- Boston, Springfield
New York - New York
New Jersey - North Jersey
New Hampwshire - New Hampshire
Rhode Island - Providence
There are still discount spots available and the outfitter has 59 spots that we
can fill as of July 27. These are a first-come first-serve basis and not
guaranteed to our group until a deposit is received.
This event you will not want to miss. We already have exceeded last years
registrations, increasing the networking opportunities and developing lasting
friendships.

How do I get there? We will
attempt to arrange car and hotel pooling. Please email your location and if you
have a means of meeting in a centralized location.
Is this overnight? We are only
planning the one day trip, however there are campgrounds and a motel nearby. See
below for details.
[Trip leaves around 9:30am, snack is served on the river. We will have a Steak,
Salmon, Chicken or Vegetarian option after rafting.]

This is a great intermediate rafting trip
(contact CrabApple (888)
553-RAFT for concerns, but beginners have started on this trip
before), great guides, fellow engineers and new friends! Come on out and network
while catching the thrill of some white water.
Space is limited and attendance is
on a first come first serve basis by deposit.
For those wishing to spend a weekend in the beautiful scenic Berkshires, camping
is available within a few miles of CrabApple Whitewater base facility. Camping
is available two miles from the base of CrabApple White Water at Country Aire
Campground near to the Oxbow Motel. Another alternative to camp is at the Mohawk
State Park. More info below with links:

Cabins between $30-50 for
1-3 rooms respectively.
Hotel:
Car/hotel pooling: We will
attempt to arrange car and hotel pools. Please let us know if you need a ride
and if you can meet in a determined centralized location (i.e. you can get a
ride, take public transportation, taxi or just want to drive with someone else).
If you want to share a room, then let us know your sex.
Cost: The first 20 IEEE members
to RSVP by the deadline only need to pay $94. Non-IEEE members and IEEE members
who RSVP after the deadline or after 20 have been received pay $109. All RSVPs
are subject to slot availability with the provider. You will need to pay up
front by mailing a check as described below.

providing IEEE member number if applicable for discount. Upon receipt of email,
you will be notified of whether you qualified for the discount. Payment should
be received within 2 weeks of registering by email to qualify for the discount
[postmark date]. Non-discounted registrations will be accepted until the event
date subject to availability of the provider.

Risks: While the rapids chosen
are intended for beginners-intermediates, white water rafting is nonetheless
risky and accidents do happen. Please perform your own research as to whether
these risks are acceptable to you before signing up for the event. Both the
rafting company and IEEE will expect you to sign assumption of risk, release of
liability waivers before participating.
