IEEE Bangalore Section
maintains several mailing lists for exchange of information. All over
the world, IEEE operates the mailing lists using the LISTSERV program. LISTSERV is
an e-mail list management software that offers a variety of types of
mailing lists and a web interface for simple list
administration. LISTSERV provides quicker message delivery than IEEE’s
previous list management software, Majordomo.

mailing list is open for all those who are interested in activities of
IEEE Bangalore Section. Anyone who is interested in activities of
Bangalore Section can subscribe to this list. This list is not
restricted to any group, nor dependent on any membership. Once you
subscribe you can send e mail messages to this list which will be
broadcast to all subscribers automatically. Conversely, you will
receive e-mail messages from other subscribers, giving you plenty of
useful information.

subscribed to this list. All announcements associated with
Bangalore Section, IEEE India Council, Chapters and Affinity
groups of Bangalore Section are sent to this list. Any IEEE member
can post message to this list to share information among all IEEE
members of Bangalore Section. Subscription to this list is
restricted, you cannot subscribe yourself or anybody to this list.

Decade. If you are an IEEE member who graduated with your first
professional degree within the last ten years, you are automatically

list. Through this list you can mingle with your fellow GOLDies of

INSTRUCTIONS ON USING LISTSERV
MAILING LISTS

All your subscriptions to IEEE
Mailing lists can be managed on web. Visit the IEEE LISTSERV website,
listserv.ieee.org for more
information. First time users must create a login for themselves to manage
their account.

You can also manage your
subscription through mail, though it is a bit burdensome. To manage through
email, you should send commands to the mail id
listserv@listserv.ieee.org.
All commands should be sent to this id only and not to any mailing lists
id. Below are the instructions on simple tasks like subscribing and
unsubscribing from a list.

Address an e-mail message to
listserv@listserv.ieee.org

Put the following in the body of the message:
subscribe listname yourfirstname yourlastname
Replace
listname with bangalore-section and mention your
first and last name.
A message will be sent to your e-mail address asking you to confirm
your subscription request. You must reply to this message with ok in
the body of the message. Leave the subject unchanged. If you do not
supply your real name on the command line, you may experience some
minor problems.

Put the following in the body of the message:
signoff listname

Do not include your name or e-mail address in the body of the
signoff message.
