Joint IEEE CSS-IMS chapter, Kolkata Section
A Workshop on “ADVANCES IN CONTROL SYSTEM ENGINEERING” was organized by Department of Electrical Engineering, Orissa Engineering College, Bhubaneswar, Odisha, India on 20 December, 2014, at Orissa Engineering College, which was Technically Co-Sponsored by joint IEEE CSS-IMS chapter, Kolkata Section. In the Inaugural Session, Prof. Dr. M. R. Panigrahi, Principal, Orissa Engineering College, delivered the welcome address. Then Dr. A. Chatterjee, Interim Secretary, joint IEEE CSS-IMS chapter, Kolkata Section discussed the genesis of and the inspiration behind the formation of the joint IEEE CSS-IMS chapter, Kolkata Section and invited all to become IEEE members. Mrs. S. Patnaik, Director Administration, OEC, also spoke on this occasion and, finally, Chief Coordinator, Dr. N.R. Samal, Head, Electrical Engineering Department, OEC, offered the vote of thanks.
Following the Inaugural Session, there were two technical sessions. In Technical Session I, Dr. Amitava Chatterjee, Associate Professor, Electrical Engineering Department, Jadavpur University, Kolkata, India, delivered his lecture on “Sliding Mode Control and its Variants”. In Technical Session II, Prof. Sanjeeb Kumar Kar, Head, Department of Electrical Engineering, SOA University, Bhubaneswar, spoke on the topic of “Optimal Control of Dynamic system using Orthogonal function”.
There were 67 participants who attended the workshop out of which 3 were IEEE members. The participants largely comprised students and faculty members from the host institution and nearby institutions.
