[Invited Talk] Some Recent Studies of Compact MIMO Antennas and Their Applications

Sailing He(Royal Institute of Technology, Zhejiang University)

Abstract

Multiple-input--multiple-output (MIMO) wireless systems utilize multiple antenna elements to improved channel capacity or reliability without the need for additional spectrum or power. However, the mutual coupling between antenna elements in a compact structure will drastically decrease the performance of MIMO systems. In this talk some of our recent studies of compact MIMO antennas and their applications will be reviewed, including extremely closely-packed dual element MIMO antennas for small terminal applications, MIMO antenna researches for mobile phone applications and some small size four-port MIMO antennas. MIMO over optical fibers will also be mentioned.
