From the Chair
Welcome
to the first newsletter of the IEEE Women in Engineering (WIE) group, Western
Australia Section. We hope you can find time to read through these articles and
links weve put together in celebration of mothers and their role in nurturing
the engineers of the future. WIE aims to encourage and support women entering
engineering, but we are also very interested in diversity and the importance of
the individual and community creating balanced engineers. It is mothers who
begin this process by creating an environment where boys and girls can be caring
and considerate, without diminishing their interests and ambitions in science
and engineering.
As a
working mother of three, I have been privileged to have my mothers support with
raising my children and theres nothing like having your own kids to help you
to appreciate your parents! Of course, Dads have a big role in all of this and
we will produce a Fathers Day newsletter later in the year.
To find
out more about the IEEE and WIE, please visit our website
https://ieee.org/wawie where we are collecting information and advice
for achieving balance and peace in the areas of lifestyle, career and community.
So,
have a read, and perhaps find extra inspiration to do something special for the
mother-figure in your life.
So,
for Mothers Day its three cheers for the domestic engineers!
