Two School Thoughts on QoS Challenges
No QoS problem as long as the network has sufficient bandwidth
- OC-192/WDM favor (Trade bandwidth with QoS)
- Assume that router speed (throughput) always catches up the fiber transmission speed
Always needs QoS control in place
- Bandwidth can be exhausted quickly as long as there are extra available bandwidth
- IP-enabled service traffic pattern may be dynamic and unknown to capacity planners
- Bandwidth may be expensive
