    *First time entrant this year

TOTAL: 17 schools, 38 teams, 44 kits required

We are now almost totally out of kits, but we are expecting a new shipment of 70 kits by the end of this week. With a significant number of teams in hand we are ready to assign team numbers and these should be sent out by the end of this week.

  3. Sent 15 kits out of 25 ordered to North Carolina including 5 automation kits. They announced their challenge at https://www.ewh.ieee.org/cmte/secon04/
  4. Montana showed interest and we sent a kit to Mitch Hobish (past judge at our Baltimore Challenge) who will let us know if additional kits will be required.
  5. John Dentler informs us that Charles Rubinstein of Region 1 PACE showed an interest in promoting the Challenge at the national level. This would be quite good, but it would increase demand for units significantly. Kelvin assured us that they could handle the increased volume of basic kits, though I am not sure that Morgan State could handle the increase in the volume of automation kits. Kelvin, however, stated that they could build these kits as well if needed. Charles has indicated that IEEE could produce the manuals. Present level of kits requested nationally is as follows

TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR A REBATE:

- SECTIONS MUST HOLD 5 OR MORE MEETINGS. THIS CAN INCLUDE CHAPTER MEETINGS.

- CHAPTERS MUST HOLD 2 OR MORE MEETINGS.

NOTE: The following meetings are unreported via L-31:

EMC27 9; 1 meeting

AP03MTT17 2 meetings

GOLD 9; 5 meetings

WIE 9; 3 meetings

Observations and actions

  1. There are 3 meetings that have no L-31 filings either with you or me (see yellow highlighted text on this page). I have knowledge that these meetings were held because of oral presentations made to that effect by chapter representatives at section meetings or because the meetings were listed on the web sites of the chapters. I am pursuing this with the appropriate chapter secretaries.
  2. Meetings highlighted in red were held but not filed.
  3. GOLD has filed its petition to become an affinity group of the section. Meeting reports need to be filed.
  4. WIE has not filed petitions to IEEE to become an affinity group of Baltimore Section. It’s meetings cannot count until this formality is completed.
