Executive Reports

Section Chair (Brian Sequeira):

  • Baltimore section received an invitation from Northern Virginia section to include pre-college activities in their section report. Neville Deed to follow up with providing information to NoVa Section on the Robot Challenge
  • Brian Sequeira attended the expo at Applied Physics Laboratory. Also represented the section were Robert Berkovitz, Dave Sherman and Boniface Nwugwo. 14 people took IEEE membership applications
  • 2 senior members applicants were asked to come to meeting to the evening’s meeting to receive help in submitting their applications

Section Vice-Chair (Boris Gramatikov):

  • Boris Gramatikov had inputs for the Region meeting
  • PES did not list having a meeting last year. The chatpter officers did reply to officer request but provided no meeting response. Suggestion made by Jeff Friedhoffer that Chair or Vice-chair contact the past officers and find out the current state of the chapter.
  • Reported the Section treasurer was ill and would not be present at the this Excom meeting
  • A discussion started about closing SunTrust account and moving to Concentration Banking. When Concentration Banking was with Mellon, that company did not have a local branch making banking inconvenient. Now that Wachovia has the account and it is local there is not much a reason for consolidation. Suggestion made by Brian to table the discussion until John Dentler can attend.

Treasurer (Bob Cuellar):

  • Not present

Secretary (Bill Semancik)

  • Submitted minutes from Feb 2005 meeting
  • Presented preliminary info for R2 report

Old Business and Action items:

·         A discussion was held regarding the section dinner. The primary goal was to achieve a cost savings to reduce the deficit for the Section this year.

Options for reducing costs

1)      no giveaways

2)      $10 charge for attendance

3)      Cash bar

4)      Drink tickets

5)      Buffet vs sit down

Motion made and carried coming in favor of cash bar with sodas no drinks, no handouts, 1 glass of wine at table, sit down table. Semancik to summarize
