IEEE Guide to Autonomous Vehicle TechnologyThe Baltimore Section of the IEEE, in close collaboration with the Continuing Education Committee (CEC) of the Educational Activities Board (EAB) of the IEEE, is organizing and sponsoring a series of online courses for group or individual participation, eligible for CEU credits. The third online course, to be taken individually, is planned for June 16-30, 2021.

These courses are part of the IEEE eLearning program, offered through the IEE Learning Network (ILN), and are being made accessible to the Baltimore Section at a deep discount (click here for the regular pricing, or scroll all the way down for the special price of this course program). The Baltimore Section extends an invitation to neighboring sections in Area South of Region 2 (Washington DC and Northern Virginia), under similar conditions.

Course Program Description

Automated vehicle technologies are developing rapidly, and promise to improve driving safety. While these advanced technologies offer potential benefits to drivers, uncertainty remains about efficacy and usability when users interact with these systems.

IEEE Fundamentals of Autonomous Vehicle Technology is a program that covers foundational and practical applications of autonomous, connected, and intelligent vehicle technologies, including:

  • An overview of current state-of-the-art systems, deep learning algorithms, and other intelligent approaches that promise safer and easier driving
  • Advanced insight into recent developments made in human-centered design in mixed traffic scenarios
  • In-depth case studies that demonstrate how to test, evaluate, and refine systems in this next era of automation
  • A comprehensive look ahead at how self-driving vehicles will impact day-to-day business and operations for academic, corporate, and government organizations
