Presentation: Satellite Communications Technology Update And Trends
Speaker: Neil R. Helm, Institute for Applied Space Research, George Washington University. Mr. Helm is the Deputy Director of the Institute for Applied Space Research and a Senior Research Scientist in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at The George Washington University. From 1984 to 1990, he was the President of Helm Communications. From 1967 to 1984, he was employed by COMSAT where he held senior technical and management positions including the Director of Marketing for the technical services division. Mr. Helm received his B.S. degree from Georgetown University in and is a Senior Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers and the Chair of its Aerospace Policy Committee. He is an Associate Fellow of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics and the Chair of its Communication Satellite Standards Committee. Mr. Helm is on the Editorial Board of Space Communications an international journal and has published more than 30 technical articles.

Directions: From the Beltway take Greenbelt Rd (Rte 183) towards Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC), continue for about 1-1/2 mile beyond GSFC, then turn left on Aerospace Rd (there is a Shell gas station at the corner). The CSC building, 10110 Aerospace Rd, is on the left, after passing an apartment complex.
