Dr. Shyam Bajpai is a Senior Engineer and Project Manager at National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)/National Environmental Data and Information Service (NESDIS). His responsibilities include future system requirements, planning, conceptual and risk reduction studies, implementation of cost effective and timely technologies in the future remote sensing satellite systems.
Prior to joining NOAA in 1991, Shyam Bajpai was Professor of Electrical Engineering at State University of New York at Stony Brook, and Senior Engineer at Westinghouse Research and Development Center, Pittsburgh, PA. He received several awards including Westinghouse Invention Award, National Science Foundation Research Award, IEEE Washington Section Recognition Award, Special Recognition by the Deputy Under Secretary at NOAA for his contributions to Diversity Initiative. He has been reviewer for several books, journals, and Ph.D. theses. His research accomplishments in microwave area have been internationally recognized. He is listed in Who's Who in Technology Today, Who is Who in East. Shyam received Ph.D. from Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi.
His IEEE accomplishments include: Senior member, Member of IEEE Microwave Theory and Techniques (MTT) and Geo-Science and Remote Science Societies, member of the editorial Board of IEEE Transactions of MTT, Reviewer of IEEE Transactions of MTT, Chapter News Coordinator of MTT Society, Chairman (!996-97) Washington D.C./N.VA Chapter of the MTT-S, Director (1997-98) and Treasurer (1998-) Washington Section. 1998 International Microwave Symposium held at Baltimore: On the steering committee, technical committee, Chair of Panel sessions.
