Richard Kait will be speaking on "Ten Critical Legal Issues That High-Tech Engineers Need to Know" - attempting to provide an overview of current hot topics in the laws and court decisions in the high-technology sectors, including Internet and emerging telecommunications. Can the courts and lawyers keep pace with the rapidly evolving world of information and communications technology? From Microsoft litigation to encryption, from privacy and constitutional issues on the Internet, to the basis questions of how to legal structure the business in a high-tech environment, Richard aims to provide the attendees a lively and informative discussion of the hot topics in law and technology.
Richard Kait has a solo business and tax attorney with offices located in Old Town Alexandria, Virginia. His practice extends to estate planning, probate, civil litigation, and commercial transactions. His clients include a wide range of individuals, closely-held businesses, including technology firms, and professionals.
Richard received his undergraduate education at Princeton University in 1969, and his law degree at the University of Wisconsin Law School in 1974. Richard is a frequent lecturer on business, tax and estate planning topics, for numerous Virginia MCLE-approved seminars and private programs. Richard has represented individuals, corporations, partnerships, and decedents' estates before the IRS Examination Division and Appeals Office, United States Tax Court, Federal District Court, and various state and local taxing authorities, including reported cases. Richard organized and taught a course at Northern Virginia Community College (1993-97) on Medicare/Medicaid, guardianship, retirement and estate planning for the elderly. He has publications in many leading legal journals.
