Patenting Communications Technology, Fred Bailey Esq, Greenblum & Bernstein, PLC, 16 Sept 1999

Abstract:

Every engineer has had an idea that they think was patentable, but few of us really know what is evolved in the patenting process. With the rapid changes in communication occurring every day in hardware and software, every engineer need to know something about how something is patented and what that means.

Mr. Bailey's presentation will include an overview of intellectual property including patents, copyrights, trademarks, and trade secrets. This talk will also discuss why you need to protect your intellectual property. Also, discussion will be presented on the questions: do you own the rights to the intellectual property that you develop or create for your customers; and, if so, do you have to sign away your rights in this intellectual property to your customer, client or employer.
