Thank you for considering to speak at one of our monthly meeting. The IEEE Communications Society is a body of professions that thrive on the free exchange of information on the latest techniques in communications and communications theory. We look forward to your presentation and would like to offer this guide for the preparation of your presentation.
Audience: The attendance runs from 15-40 engineers from the Washington area. Most are employed within businesses. The degrees range from BS to Ph.D., some may have even written on your topic, but they are all coming to hear what you have to say.
Presentation Style: The total time should be about 45 minutes. Begin with a 5-10 minutes introduction into your topic, 15-20 minutes on the topic, and 5-10 minutes for questions
Facilities: We meet in a medium size conference room at George Washington University. It has a chalk board and overhead projector. If you need other audio-visual aids please tells us and we’ll arrange for it.
Abstract and Bio: We need your abstract (about 200-300 words) and bio (about 50 words). Don’t worry about the word count just submit it ASAP. It is needed so we can prepare the ads for the local Scanner publication, usually three months in advance. If we edit your work, you will have the final approval before it is published.
Fax Number: If you would like, we will include your fax number for people to send in questions prior to the presentation.
Publication: Your talk will be advertised in the local Scanner magazine, our e-mail list, and our fax list, as well as, our web page.
Honorarium: We will buy your lunch after the talk (or on another day), remit you for any parking or fares, and we will present you with a certificate. If you would like a thank you letter to your boss, we can arrange that too.
Copies of your presentationMembers of the audience frequently ask for copies of the presentation. We will make copies and distribute them, if you can provide us with one hard copy at the beginning of the presentation.
We look forward to seeing your presentation.
