Don Rickerson- Panel Moderator
Mr. Rickerson is a Senior Member of the IEEE and has held a number of leadership and technical assignments. He has held the offices of Chairman, Treasure and Secretary of the Washington Section; Chairman and Secretary of the Communications Society of Washington and Northern Virginia.
He is Staff Systems Engineer at Lockheed Martin in Washington DC supporting the FAA on international communications via satellite for both fixed and mobile services. He is also the founder of Personal Satellite Network, Inc., a telecommunications company providing domestic and international two-way mobile data communications to hand-held and portables satellite terminals connecting them to the Internet with special information services including TTY and fax interfaces for the speech and hearing impaired.
During his military career from 1974-1992, he worked his way through the ranks as an infantryman, squad leader, platoon leader, company commander. On the technical assignments he has been a radio technician, Systems Officer, and Division Telecommunication Officer. Seven of the fifteen years of active duty were spent overseas.
His degrees are BS in Computer Science from Edinboro University, PA 1982, Signal Corps Telecommunications Officer Course at Wright-Patterson AFB OH in 1986 and MA in Telecommunications from George Mason University, VA in 1997.
