Minutes of IEEE/LVS/SSCS/Executive Committee Planning Meeting
8Oct2018 - 6:00 PM at Rosanna?s Restaurant, 2 E Broad St, Bethlehem, PA 18018
In Attendance:
Bob Peruzzi, Roger Minear, Paul Davis, Dale Nelson, Betty Nelson, Bob Walden,
Joe Cicchiello and Glen Offord
The meeting was called to order by Bob Peruzzi.
Secretary's Report:
The 25Jan2018 meeting minutes were approved as read.
Treasurer's Report:
Dale's (with Roger's help) Treasurer Report was approved. The 2016-2018
expenditures were $873.82 which covered 5 meetings, four of which were
technical presentations. Our IEEEE stipend is $2K yearly and our current
balance is $3722.38 which is maintained by George Beam, LV IEEE treasurer.
There was some concern that more than the allotted $500 for the Morton Contest
was taken from our account. Dale had followed up with George Beam and believes
that our SSCS account may have been docked for $500 first place, $200 2nd
place, and $150 3rd place. Dale will email George Beam for further
clarification concerning last year and this year?s Morton contribution.
Technical Talks:
The DL Tour (typically 3 DL talks at each presentation presented at Columbia,
Princeton, and Lehigh) is in limbo. Bob hopes to move this forward. The plan
is to start with our own single DL selection and see if we can't interest the
other schools to also host our DL selection and/or migrate to the standard (3
DLs) DL Tour. Toward this end, our committee members are to email Bob up to 5
selected DL talks. Bob will make requests starting with the highest number of
responses. Committee selections are due this Friday. Ref:

New Business:
There was concern that as we have no feedback from our Morton Contribution, it
may not be money well allocated. Paul suggested we could supplement a worthy
Lehigh student's SSCS related conference attendance. Dale suggested we could
provide a cash award for best published student paper.
A motion was made and approved to reduce the 2019 Morton Contest contribution
to $300, provide $300 for a possible student conference attendance, and provide
a $200 award for best student SSCS related published paper. The conference and
published paper awards are at the discretion of our executive committee. Dale
will inform George Beam of the change in Morton funding.
For the committee,
Glen Offord, Secretary
