Abstract: Almost every electrical or electronic device has at least one customized component ¡V a

printed circuit board. A variety of substrate materials are in use by the PCB industry, to serve specific

user requirements. Manufacturing of PCBs is a complex enterprise, involving assorted metal plating

techniques, imaging of circuit patterns, lamination of multiple layers, along with mechanical processes

such as drilling and routing.

The tour will start with a video description of the PCB manufacturing process and materials involved.

Attendees will look at the internal structures of real circuit boards in cross-section and then see the

fabrication processes up close. Tour will conclude with a visit to the test and quality assurance labs.
