Transmission Voltage
Capacitors - Substation
|
Speaker:
|
John E. Harder, Applications
Consultant
|
Abstract:
|
The
application of capacitors on transmission systems has become
critical with the increased loading of these systems. This
presentation will discuss the considerations in placing
capacitors on the system, the construction of transmission
voltage capacitor banks - including protection, and
operation and maintenance considerations.

Bio:
|
Mr. Harder
is a consulting engineer with substantial experience with
design and applications considerations for transmission
voltage equipment; including power capacitors, surge
arresters, capacitive voltage transformers, etc. He has
provided expertise on insulation systems; insulation
coordination; testing techniques; and the design, protection
and operation of transmission systems. He has been involved
with a wide variety of equipment applications since the
