The Section held monthly EXCOM meetings and published a monthly electronic newsletter distributed to morer than 1100 members.  Past issues may be found at https://ewh.ieee.org/r3/orlando

Based on a request from the joint Electron Devices/Components Packaging & ManufacturingTechnology Chapter, the EXCOM approved a division of the Chapter into two separate Chapters.  Petitions were made and approved by the respective Societies.  Our Ultrasonics, Ferroelectrics, and Frequency Control Society Chapter is unfortunately being disbanded due to lack of interested members.

The Section has two active Student Branches at the University of Central Florida and the Orlando campus of DeVry University.  The Section provides regular financial support to the Stedent Branches for participation in SouthEastCon, including the Robotics competition.   Based on our current financial strength in excess of our foreseeable needs, the EXCOM is in the process of establishing an annual scholarship to be awarded to deserving graduate and undergraduate students at our student branches.  There will be up to five $1000 scholarships awarded annually to Student Members based on merit and need, subject to approval by the Regional Activities Board.

The Section held its annual picnic in June at Lake Mills Park in Chuluota, Florida, which was attended by 20 members.

Our annual Awards Ceremony on 16 October honored the following:  Outstanding Engineer, Outstanding Engineering Educator, and two Outstanding Graduate Student Awards.  More than 30 members attended.

The Section hosted a joint student and professional recruitment event at the University of Central Florida and presented the benefits of IEEE membership to more than 100 prospective members.

A Women in Engineering affinity group has been formed.
