Section Membership Development Report - April 22, 2011
The number of active
members at all grades in the Orlando Section grew from 1197, on March 24,
2011, to 1249 on April 20, 2011.
A comparison with the
totals for April 22, 2010 shows significant
year-over-year losses in the Orlando Section, particularly among
Members, Graduate Student Members, and Student Members.

Recent increases
occurred in the following grades: Affiliate (1), Associate Member
(3), Graduate Student Member (8), Member (21), Senior Member (2), and
Student Member (16).
From March 24, 2011
through April
20,
2011, 22 new members joined the Orlando
Section: 2 Associate Members, 6 Members, 6 Graduate Student
Members, and 8 Student Members. Please welcome these new IEEE members.
Their names and technical interests appear on the attached list of new
IEEE members to the Orlando Section.
From March 24,
2011 through April 20, 2011, 2 active IEEE members
moved to the Orlando Section: 1 Life Member and 1 Student Member.
Please welcome the IEEE members who have moved to the Orlando Section.
Their names along with their technical interests are shown on the
attached list.
Since it requires far less effort to
recover a former member than to
recruit a new one, the MD Chair of the Orlando Section has contacted many
of the “lapsed” members to encourage them to renew and to determine the reasons for their
non-renewal.
The number of
Members-in-Arrears in
the Orlando Section has been reduced to 332, as of April
20, 2011. The current list is attached to this report. Active
Section members must continue to work to recover these lapsed
members.
The most
recent web casts of the IEEE
Membership Development Committee were conducted on Saturday, April 16,
2011, and Wednesday, April 20, 2011, based on March 2011
membership data. A PDF file of the web-cast content is attached to this
report. The next MD web cast is scheduled for May 21,
2011.
