Flying into Fort Collins |
|
Fort
Collins is located in northern Colorado, about a one-hour drive
north of Denver International
Airport (official airport code is DEN, locally called DIA). It
is situated on the foothills just east of the Rocky Mountains.
Most major US airlines fly into DIA which is a major hub for
Frontier Airlines and
United Airlines.

Local Transportation |
|
Getting a rental car is strongly recommended
unless you have made arrangements with the chapter officers to be picked
up from DIA. You need to take a shuttle bus to reach the rental
car pickup for major rental companies. Please factor in one hour
from time your flight arrives to pick up your luggage and rental car. |

Weather |
|
We get four seasons in Fort Collins, and
during each season, conditions could fluctuate dramatically with short
notice. Please check the local
weather to gauge your attire needs. Climate is typically dry
-- lip balm or vaseline might come in handy.
Note that the local elevation is about 5000 feet above sea level, so you
might feel some slight dizziness upon arriving -- you might need a day
to fully acclimate to the altitude, |

Directions to Fort Collins AMD Campus
|
|
The AMD campus is located in the SE corner
of Fort Collins. Total driving time is about 60 minutes ( 65
miles). |
- From rental car pickup location,
exit airport by taking Peņa Blvd westbound.
- On Peņa Blvd, stay on right lane
(0.9 mile, 1 min).
- Take Exit 6B for E-470 Tollway
northbound toward Fort Collins.
- Drive on E-470 for 17.5 miles, 15
mins. You will need to pay 2 x USD$2 tolls. Change
is available at the toll booths.
- Take Exit 47 to merge onto
Interstate-25 (I-25) northbound toward Fort Collins.
- Drive on I-25 for 37.8 miles, 31
mins. You should see Rocky Mountains to your left.
- Take Exit 265 off-ramp for Harmony
Road / CO-68 westbound.
- At off-ramp traffic light, make left
turn to drive on Harmony Road / CO-68.
- Drive westbound for 1.7 miles.
After passing Ziegler Road intersection, make immediate right turn
into AMD campus parking lot.
- Proceed to 3rd floor.

There are several comfortable hotels located
within two miles west of the Fort Collins AMD campus, just south of
Harmony Road. We recommend that out-of-town speakers do not stay
near Denver Airport unless they have a very early morning flight and prefer to do
so. |
