The Eighth Annual IEEE Workshop on Microelectronics and Electron Devices is pleased to announce a few opportunities for awards and scholarships. Please review them below and participate in the process early.

2010 WMED Student Travel Awards

· A check for up to US$300 to be used toward workshop hotel expenses and travel costs

· An award certificate will be presented at the workshop

· The 2010 WMED registration fee will be waived for the recipients of the Student Travel Awards.

To qualify for the Student Travel Awards, the applicant must satisfy all of the following requirements:

· Is an author of an accepted WMED paper;

· The author attends the workshop and presents the paper at the workshop

2010 WMED Undergraduate Student Scholarships

· Up to two student scholarships will be awarded at the 2010 WMED.

· Restricted to Northwest region (ID, WA, OR, MT, UT, NV) and to sophomore and junior students.

· Includes a check for US$750 and a scholarship certificate from IEEE EDS Boise Chapter

· The students do not need to attend the workshop for consideration.

Scholarship Application Process

· Documents: Scholarship application form, Resume, Faculty recommendation letter, and unofficial transcripts.

· Select candidates for a short phone interview and finalize the award recipients.

· Application Form: Due March 16, 2010

2010 WMED Best Paper Award

· The award includes US$200 and an award certificate

· Open to students as well as non-student presenters

· Evaluation of the manuscript (technical committee) and the talk (session chair)

2010 WMED Best Poster Award

· The award includes US$100 and an award certificate

· Open to students as well as non-student poster presenters

· Evaluation by the technical committee and WMED attendees to rate the poster at the workshop
