Results of The Second Annual IEEE Bio-Tech Competition

The Second Annual IEEE Bio-Tech Contests 2000 took place February 12, 2000. This year's theme of the
contest was to develop and present a concept using Electrical, Electronic, Biomedical, and/or Electro-Optics to
assist a persons' disability - or to improve a persons' ability to manage tasks that usually require assistance.
The entries were received from the students of Cal Poly, SLO; Cal Poly, Pomona; CSULB, and USC. The contest focus is on students' individual ideas and in particular, the contest provides a forum for these future engineers to share those ideas that focus on technology assisted care.

The finalist and their proposals, as selected by a panel of eight judges, are:

Steve N. Denia: "Inflatable Airbed for Pressure Ulcer Prevention" (4th place) 


Congratulations to the finalists. They were recognized at the 45th Annual National Engineers Week Honors and Awards Gala Banquet that took place February 26, 2000.   This year's theme - "Engineers - Turning Ideas into Reality".
