ADSL Frequency Spectrum

• POTS operation is unaffected - uses bottom 4 KHz and line current remains. Meets lifeline regulatory requirements

• Upstream utilizes lower frequencies to take advantage of reduced near end  cross talk (NEXT) at CO

• Downstream uses as much of the remaining bandwidth as it can, usually  topping out about 1 MHz
