ELECTION OF OFFICER FOR THE YEAR 2003

 
Elections:
The Chapter's annual elections will be held for the position of Secretary. The following candidates have been nominated and a short campaign speech (3-4 minutes) will be made by each prior to the talk. A ballot will be handed out to everyone at the entrance and we request that you fill them out after the campaign speeches. Only IEEE members may vote. Involved with EMC since 1979 with HP T & M for 13 years, and various other companies. In 1997, I founded the SF Bay Chapter of IEEE PELS, and was an officer for three years. I am the Area Sales Manager for DJM Electronics, BS, Engineering SJSU, 1977; Sunnyvale HS; I reside in Cupertino, and have lived within 20 miles of here since the age of nine. This Society is very important to Silicon Valley and to all the members. I am a hard working dependable leader that will use my energy to fulfill the many duties, and commit to a four-year assignment.

 

  Pat is recently retired from Hewlett-Packard Company after 29 years of employment. Pat's most recent job was as project leader (EMC test process engineer) at the Network Server Division, where he had technical and quality responsibility for the HP Cupertino EMC Test Facility. Prior to working at the HP EMC Test Facility, Pat served as a compliance engineer (EMC and safety), product regulations manager, and production supervisor. Pat also served as HP representative to CBEMA (later ITI) ESC-5, and was a key player to have the U.S. harmonize to CISPR 22.

 

  Bob Miller is Managing Engineer of the International Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) Services group at Underwriters Laboratories inc. (UL), Santa Clara, California and has been working in the EMC field for 8 years. Bob coordinates the EMC operations for UL's Santa Clara and Sunol facilities, including laboratory operations and engineering. Bob assisted in the design, construction and implementation of UL's Santa Clara EMC testing facilities which include one 10 meter and one 3 meter Anechoic Chamber. Bob is member of the IEEE, EMC Society and Communication Society and current Chair of the Arrangements Committee for the 2004 Symposium. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Industrial Technology from California State University, Fresno.

 

  It comes as a great honor that I have received a nomination to fulfill the position of Secretary of the SCV IEEE EMC Society beginning January 2003. I have spent five years specializing in Sales Development for two different EMC/Safety Laboratories in California. My background has included working for Manufacturing Companies of Electronic parts in Inventory Control, Production, Buying, and Customer Relations. I have taken all my experience and utilized it to help all my customers satisfy EMC, Safety, and Regulatory compliance. I have been fortunate to work with the best in this business an have learned a considerable amount. I continue to work in this Industry due to fact that you learn something new everyday and as products evolve, the Industry continuously changes requirements. If I am chosen as Secretary, I will continue to serve those who are new and experienced to the EMC Industry.
