EASTERN CANADA COUNCIL

BY-LAWS

 

 

I. NAME

  • The name of this organization shall be "Eastern Canada Council of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers", and from time to time hercinafter be referred to as the "Council".

    II. ORGANIZATION & SCOPE

    This Council is formed pursuant to Section 403 of the Institute By-laws, for the purpose of providing better communication (1) between the Sections located in the Eastern area of Canada; (2) between these Sections and the Regional Director; and (3) through the Regional Director with Headquarters. This requirement is necessitated by the large geographical area covered by the Sections in Eastern Canada. The Council may also participate in coordinating intersection activities.

    III. REPRESENTATION

  • The Council groups and represents the following sections in Eastern Canada:

    Canadian Atlantic

    Montreal

    Ottawa

    Quebec

    St-. Maurice

     

    IV. MEETINGS

    Meetings will be held pursuant to Section 403 of the Institute By-laws.

     

    V. MANAGEMENT

  • The Council Committee shall consist of a Chairman and the Chairmen of the Sections in the Eastern area of Canada, who shall be the voting members of the ??? on the Commeittee may be expanded as approuved ??? will be appointed by Council.

    VI. NOMINATING COMMITTEE

    This Committee will consist of three persons as follows: (1) A chairman chosen by the Council Committee from past Chairmen of the Council; (2) One member of the Council Committee chosen by the Council Committee Members; (3) The third member shall be the Regional Director. If no past Chairmen are available, the Regional Director shall appoint a person to fill the vacancy. Election of Council Chairman shall be by letter ballot of Council Committee Members. The term of office shall be one year starting January 1st and ending December 31st. The Council Chairman may be re-elected.

    VII. AMENDMENTS

    (1) These By-laws shall be adopted by a favourable vote of 2/3 of the Council Committee Members. (2) Amendments to these By-laws may be proposed by any Council Committee Member. A proposed amendment may be approved by a favourable vote of 2/3 of the Council Committee Members, provided notice is sent at least 20 days prior to the date set for the meeting at which the vote is taken.
