A symposium on "Telecommunications, Energy, Environment, and Development" took place on Thursday 25th of November 2010, at the "Alexandros Tsioumis" auditorium of the Faculty of Engineering, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece. The symposium was very successful, with an audience of about 300 persons, students and stuff of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, of the International Hellenic University, of the University of Macedonia, of the University of Western Macedonia, of the Democritus University of Thrace, of the Alexander Technological Educational Institute of Thessaloniki and of the Technological Educational Institute of Serres.
The Symposium was opened by Prof. Antonopoulos Christos, Chair of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering A.U.Th., Prof. Pavlidou Niovi, Chair of the IEEE VTS & AESS Joint Greece Chapter, and Prof. Hatzopoulos Alkiviades, Chair of the IEEE CAS Greece Chapter. The speakers of the Symposium were Dr. Doukoglou Telemachos and Mr. Karatheodorou Kostas, OTE (presentation), Dr. Sofos Themistoklis, Nokia-Siemens Networks (presentation), Prof . Bakirtzis Anastasios, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering A.U.Th., Chair of the IEEE PES Greece Chapter (presentation), Assist. Prof. Demoulias Charis, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering A.U.Th. (presentation), Assist. Prof. Karatzas Kostas, Department of Mechanical Engineering A.U.Th. (presentation), and Prof. Vlahavas Ioannis, Dean of the School of Science and Technology of the International Hellenic University (presentation).
