Professional Activities Committee Report

Most members of the PAOC met at the Professional Development Conference (PDC) in Sept
00.
All vacancies were filled and reflect IEEE-USA standing committees.
Region 3 was modestly represented at PDC. Those members that attended gained new skills
and networked with members from the world. At this time, the plans for PDC 01 have been
cancelled. Region 3 is the only region that annually and routinely trains its PACE members
about how to do a good job (Thanks for George McClure) at the section level.
The committee continues to encourage universities within Region 3 to schedule SPAC's.
SPAC's provide a 'jump start' to students before they complete their educations.
