A principal SPC focus is the updating of the Region 3 Strategic Plan for 2001 and beyond, revising Region 3 goals and objectives as appropriate. (The 2000 plan is posted on the Web at https://www.ewh.ieee.org/reg/3/sp2000.html ). All ExCom members should review it and share their 2001 goals and objectives with SPC to assure their inclusion in the 2001+ Plan.

As the internet and Web become more closely entwined in our Region 3 operations, this impacts our goals as well as the way we conduct our normal business. The wider use of e-conferencing achieves major cost saving for the region.

More and more of our entities in Region 3 are designing web pages, providing a ready reference resource for the various entity members. The SPC web page is at https://www.ewh.ieee.org/reg/3/spc/ , for example. Councils and sections are also similarly posting web pages for their members, but for the pages to be of real use, care must be taken to assure the pages are kept up to date.

During 2001 SPC hopes also to complete the updating of the Region 3 History, bylaws, and Operations Manual.

Let's make 2001 a banner year for Region 3!
